Elephone P7000 Is A $199 Flagship; 1080p Display, 3GB Of RAM, Metal Frame And A Fingerprint Scanner In Tow

When you hear the word ‘flagship’ in terms of a smartphone, you immediately think of the most powerful device by a certain company. The words ‘premium’ and ‘expensive’ also come to mind, but Chinese smartphone OEMs don’t see it that way. They’re trying to make the best possible smartphone for the lowest possible price. We’ve seen a number of great high-end and flagships devices manufactured by Xiaomi and Meizu, amongst other China-based companies. Elephone is a Hong Kong-based company which hits the headlines every once in a while, and this time they really have something interesting to show us.

This company has announced their new flagships, the Elephone P7000. This is a flagship handset which will be available for only $199, let’s check out what it has to offer. The Elephone P7000 features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz, long story short, this is a very capable chip. 16-megapixel camera (Sony’s sensor) is located on the back of this handset, and an 8-megapixel snapper is available up front. 3,200mAh battery is also available here, and even a fingerprint scanner (press-to-activate) is a part of this package (located on the back).

The company has said that the device will offer support for Android 5.0 Lollipop and CyanogenMod ROM later this year. You may also notice that this handset sports a metal trim around the device, and looks really sleek. The Elephone P7000 will be available in late April (date still unknown) for $199 in China, though you’ll be able to get it through Elephone’s online partners as well at some point. Keep in mind that the device will cost more if you purchase it via resellers though, it remains to be seen how much. It is mind boggling that Elephone managed to put all those specifications in there, use metal while making this phone and still sell the device for just $199. This handset will definitely bring even more competition to the smartphone market in China.
