HTC One M9+ Gets Announced, Complete With A 5.2″ 2K Display, 3GB Of RAM And A Fingerprint Scanner

HTC has announced their One M9 flagship during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month. Many people were expecting this Taiwan-based smartphone OEM to launch the One M9+ in Barcelona as well, but that didn’t happen. It didn’t take long for HTC to announce yet another event though, the company has sent out invitations for the “More than One” event soon after MWC. The invitations said that the event will take place on April 8th in Beijing, and the company has just announced the long-awaited and much leaked HTC One M9+ handset.

The HTC One M9+ features a 5.2-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) IPS LCD display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6795T octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and it will ship with a 2,840mAh battery. 20-megapixel (f/2.2 aperture) snapper is located on the back of this device (Duo Camera setup), and the company’s UltraPixel shooter (f/2.0 aperture) is available on the front side of this handset. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on the One M9+, and the company’s Sense 7 UI comes installed on top of Google’s operating system. The HTC One M9+ measures 150.99 x 71.99 x 9.61mm and it basically offers the same build as the HTC One M9, but it’s bigger, has two cameras on the back and comes with a physical home button on the front. That home button actually doubles as a fingerprint scanner, as we thought it would, and it has enabled support for AliPay payment system which is very popular in Asia. BoomSound speakers are also a part of the package here (Dolby Surround included).

The HTC One M9+ will be available in three color variants: Silver + Gold, Gold and Gunmetal Grey. This handset will be available only in China at first, but it will probably reach other markets eventually, even though we can’t confirm that at this moment.
