Samsung has announced two Galaxy S6 devices at the beginning of last month, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. These are the first metal unibody smartphones the company has ever manufactured, and they sport almost identical internals, but are significantly different on the outside. The Galaxy S6 sports a rather streamlined general shape, while the Galaxy S6 Edge is… well, unique as far as its design goes. This handset actually has curved display on both its left and right side, which makes it look rather odd and cool at the same time. Both of these devices are available for pre-order in certain areas, but are not available for purchase just yet.

The two devices will go on sale on April 10th, and the company expects them to break all kinds of records. According to J.K. Shin, the Head of Samsung Mobile, the company expects record shipments of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets. Unfortunately for the company, the supply of the Galaxy S6 Edge will be constrained at launch. Samsung is having some difficulties in the manufacturing process with the Galaxy S6 Edge, most likely because of its curved display. “We’re working hard to resolve the difficulty in supply,” said J.K. Shin, while he also admitted that these problems could take a while to resolve.

Both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge feature a 5.1-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display along with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage versions of the device are available, though we’re talking about non-expandable internal storage here. Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor is powering on these handsets along with a Mali-T760MP8 GPU for graphics. The 16-megapixel snapper (OIS included) is located on the back of Samsung’s newest flagships, while a 5-megapixel shooter is available on the front side of these devices. Android 5.0.2 Lollipop comes pre-installed on these handsets along with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it. The Galaxy S6 ships with a 2,550mAh battery, while a Galaxy S6 Edge sports a somewhat bigger 2,600mAh unit. Both of these devices support 4G LTE connectivity, of course, and they’re available in a range of color options.
