Samsung and HTC have launched their newest flagships during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month. Sony has announced their Xperia Z4 flagship in Japan earlier today, and LG is next in line to announce a 2015 flagship. We have a ton of info regarding the LG G4 already, the massive leak which revealed the looks of the device and some of its specifications certainly helped. This Korea-based company has already revealed that the G4 will be announced on May 28 and that it will sport 16 and 8-megapixel camera sensors LG Innotek has unveiled quite recently. That being said, let’s take a closer look at those two sensors, shall we.
As already mentioned, LG Innotek has announced two new camera sensors recently and those two sensors will be a part of the company’s upcoming flagship. The 16-megapixel camera will be located on the back of this device and sport f/1.8 aperture which will let the sensor capture way more light into the image itself. This camera will be able to capture 80% more light, but this aperture is not the only reason why. LG actually re-worked this sensor from the ground-up and it allegedly uses six-lens overlay technology, which filters the captured content. Reports say that this camera will offer 40% more accurate colors on the images you take, which is commendable. OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) is also a part of this package, of course. According to reports, this 16-megapixel snapper is a significantly better performer than the G3’s camera, which was one of the best cameras on Android when that device launched last year. The company is allegedly also using an incredibly slim 0.11mm glass blue filter in order to stop infrared emissions.
The front-facing camera is also letting far more light get in to the image itself and is a significant improvement over the G3’s snapper. All in all, the source says that the G4’s camera sensors offer 50% better overall performance compared to G3’s offerings. If this turns out to be accurate, the LG G4 will offer superior images quality and quite be one of the best camera smartphones around. It remains to be seen how will these sensors perform in real life though, the company will announce their handset in 8 days, stay tuned.
