Xiaomi turned 5 years old today, and the company has released yet another teaser image. The content of the teaser made people believe that Xiaomi will announce the next-gen Mi Pad tablet on April 8th, but it seems that won’t be the case. The teaser was referring to the price cut of the existing Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet it seems. As you might recall, this China-based smartphone OEM has discounted the 16GB version of their Mi Pad tablet back in December, and it costs 1,299 Yuan since then. Well, the company has now decided to do the same for the 64GB variant of this device. The 64GB variant of Xiaomi Mi Pad will cost 1,499 Yuan starting tomorrow, which is 200 Yuan cheaper than its price thus far. The 64GB variant of the Mi Pad will be available for purchase without pre-order, registration or anything of the sort. This means that you’ll be able to purchase this thing without a problem if you live in China, as long as you pay its price, of course.

The Xiaomi MiPad sports a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 IPS LCD display along with 2GB of RAM for all your multitasking needs and 16 and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable via MicroSD card (up to 128GB). Nvidia’s Tegra K1 quad-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz is powering on this tablet along with the ULP GeForce 192-core Kepler GPU for graphics. The 8-megapixel camera is located on the back of the device while the 5-megapixel shooter can be found on the front side of this tablet. The MiPad comes with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed with Xiaomi’s MIUI OS on top of it. The 6700mAh Li-Po battery is here to make sure your tablet doesn’t run out of juice, and we’re talking about a Wi-Fi only tablet here, no 3G or 4G connectivity is available in either version. This thing measures 202 x 135.4 x 8.5mm while it weighs 360 grams.

There you have it, it seems like we’re going to wait a bit longer for the company to unveil the Mi Pad 2. The next-gen Xiaomi tablet should arrive soon though, it’s been over a year since they launched the first-gen device, so the refresh is definitely due.
