This morning, Cricket Announced that they will be selling the Galaxy S6 next week, April 24th. For those that haven’t heard of Cricket Wireless before, they are the prepaid MVNO that is owned by AT&T. AT&T purchased them recently and rolled them into their AiO brand. Cricket has been competing pretty well with the other prepaid MVNO’s out there like T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Straight Talk and others. And now it appears that they may be one of the first to offer the Galaxy S6. As we haven’t heard anything from the other prepaid carriers out there yet.
Cricket will have the Samsung Galaxy S6 on sale beginning April 24th. They will be selling it at the full retail price, since they are a prepaid carrier and don’t do contracts. Which that price is $649.99. However, Cricket did just announce new payment plans for their smartphones. So if you’re approved you can get a Galaxy S6 for as low as $19.99 down. There’s also Cricket’s 90 days same-as-cash plan which will get you the Galaxy S6 for just $49.99 down and there’s no need for a credit check there.
Currently, there’s no word on whether Cricket will be selling the Galaxy S6 Edge as well. So far it looks like it’ll just be the Galaxy S6. We’ve reached out to Cricket for clarification and will update this post once we hear more. Although the full retail price of the Galaxy S6 Edge might scare some people. It also appears that Cricket is only selling the 32GB version of the Galaxy S6.
Sure the Galaxy S6 isn’t a cheap smartphone, but Cricket’s plans are pretty cheap. Starting at $40/month or $35 with AutoPay, you can get 2.5GB of high-speed data along with unlimited minutes and texts. $50 gets you 5GB of high-speed data and at $60 per month you’ll get 10GB of high-speed data. If you don’t need data and can live off of WiFi, there’s a plan that just includes unlimited minutes and texts, which is $25/month. So Cricket has something for everyone, and they run on AT&T’s network, which is one of the best networks in the country, behind Verizon.
