Android has been around for quite some time now, Google’s operating system is the world’s most popular platform at the moment and many smartphone manufacturers actually include this operating system in their smartphones. Very well-known brands like Samsung, LG, Motorola and HTC have made a name for themselves in the smartphone world thanks to Android and a lot more smaller companies are now alive because of their Android-based smartphone offerings.
That being said, we have some interesting info to share with you. In an internal memo to employees regarding the legal issue with EU over anti-competitive practices (which we’ve already covered separately), Google’s has revealed that there are more than 18,000 Android devices available today, which is just incredible. All of us knew that there are a ton of Android-powered smartphones available out in the market today, but you don’t really realize it until you see the exact number and are able to comprehend it. As you all know by now, there are a ton of companies who make Android smartphones that you’ve probably never heard of, and more and more such companies actually come to live on a yearly basis. We have a rather extensive coverage of Chinese smartphones and their smartphone market here at Android Headlines, and you probably stumble upon some companies you’ve never heard of quite oftenly. Companies like Mlais and Ulefone are not as well known as Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei and Lenovo for example, but this just proves how many smartphone vendors there are in China. That same thing can be said about other countries in Asia like India for example, Micromax and Lava are actually huge companies, but are not that well-known outside of Asia. India is also full of smaller companies which have huge potential to succeed in the future, and that whole market is on the rise.
Google is constantly trying to promote Android in various ways, the company has quite recently launched the “Be together, not the same” campaign. The Android OS is constantly growing and who knows what will happen in a couple of years. There are a lot Android smartphone manufacturer, and that’s always good for us, the consumers.
