When it comes to activity trackers, Jawbone is a more well-known name out there with multiple offerings suitable for all tastes. They have a new multi-sensor activity tracker coming out called the UP3 which so far isn’t available yet, however, pre-orders for U.S.-based consumers had already begun and somewhere along the line things got held up, pushing the shipping dates back on the new wearable. Thankfully for those who have pre-ordered the device and are still patiently waiting for when their new device will arrive, Jawbone has just announced the customer shipping dates for the UP3, in addition to apologizing for the delay and thanking customers for their patience and continued support.

In a blog post today, Jawbone states, “We sincerely apologize for the delay and frustration that this has caused, and we are deeply grateful for the patience and continued support of our customers.” The takeaway here for customers who have already put money into this device is that even companies can be subject to hiccups here and there, and the reasons that had caused the shipping delays for the Jawbone UP3 would fall into this category. The Jawbone UP3 is currently in mass production and according to Jawbone, they will be ready to begin shipping units to U.S. customers who have pre-ordered the unit from Jawbone.com beginning April 20th, which is only a short 11 days away.

While delays are never a desirable result, sometimes they happen. In the case of the UP3, delays in mass production were caused due to the fact that Jawbone was unable to guarantee an unheard of industry standard for the water resistance of the UP3 multi-sensor tracker. They were shooting for the capability of submersion of up to 10 meters, but after extensive testing they found out they were unable to achieve this trait on the device. This in turn pushed back the shipping dates, because they had to push back mass production. What this means is that the water resistance is now inline with most other multi-sensor trackers with this feature, and that it will be able to withstand “everyday splashing, washing hands, and showering.” Users won’t be able to wear it while swimming, and because of this Jawbone is going to allow any users who purchased the the pre-order for the UP3 under the pretense that they would be able to submerge the UP3 in water while wearing it, a refund at no cost. So, there you have it. For U.S. customers the UP3 should start shipping within the next couple of weeks, while it will launch internationally later this year according to Jawbone.
