Uber And Samsung Partner Up To Offer A $25 Discount To Uber Customers Who Purchase A New Galaxy S6

Samsung’s newly-announced Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets have been the talk of the town ever since they launched last month. After a period of pre-orders, the two handsets have launched and are now available for sale (for a couple of days now actually). This Korea-based tech giant has launched the two devices in 20 countries all over the world on April 10th, so chances are you can purchase either one of them. Samsung is promoting those two devices anywhere they can and the company has just partnered up with Uber, read on.

As you all probably know, Uber is a crowdsourced mobile-app-based transportation network. What’s this all about? Well, if you purchase the Galaxy S6 or the Galaxy S6 Edge you can launch the Galaxy Gifts promo widget, download Uber’s app and you’ll get $25 discount added to your account. “We are excited about the combination of Samsung’s reach and Uber’s global footprint — in 300 cities across 56 countries — that means riders around the world can get wherever they need to go, whenever they choose with the simple touch of a button,” said Lars Fjeldsoe-Nielsen, Vice President of Mobile at Uber. As a side note, Uber has already partnered up with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and O2 Telefonica in the past, so this is not their first mobile partnership, that’s for sure.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets are the first metal unibody smartphones to be made by Samsung. These two devices look somewhat different on the outside because of the curved display on the Edge, they’re almost identical on the inside though. Aside from a differently-sized battery units, these two devices sport the same specifications. Both of them feature a 5.1-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) Super AMOLED display along with 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM and various storage options. Samsung’s very own Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core SoC is powering on these handsets and Android 5.0.2 comes pre-installed on both of them with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of it. The 16-megapixel camera is located on the back of these devices, and a 5-megapixel snapper is available up front.
